Milestones Academy
We are pleased to announce that both Milestones Academy is open! Our program offers excellent early behavior intervention for children with autism, PDD, and other developmental disabilities.
Our curriculum and strategies in programming are based on the principles of applied Behavior Analysis including Positive Behavior Supports, and strategies developed through Princeton Child Development Institute, Juniper Gardens Children's Project, Vanderbilt Milieu Language Project, TEACCH, Delaware Autistic Program, May Institute, and the individual research of Koegel, Lovaas, Charlop, Schreibman, Dunlap, Schopler, Favell, Partington, Sundberg, and Carbonne, (among others).
We emphasize teaching new skills, language/communication development and on "learning to learn". We provide data-based intervention, with data collected and reviewed by a BCBA daily. We also do formal assessments such as the Assessment for Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) and the Psycho-Educational Profile - Revised (PEP-R) on a regular basis. These help to shape the curriculum for each child. It is, of course, individualized in order to maximize the strengths of each child and teach skills that are necessary for each child to learn to learn independently.
Behavior Aids/paraprofessionals trained in Applied Behavior Analysis will provide instruction in a one on one setting or, when appropriate, a group setting. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst will oversee training of staff working with our students and programming for each student as needed.
